Adrian Bott will happily take a Listed win at Randwick to kick-start the stable’s partnership with leviathan owner John Stewart, but he hopes Lady Moscato can deliver her connections even bigger prizes down the track.

The two-year-old daughter of Home Affairs out of multiple Group 1 placegetter Champagne Cuddles fetched $1,050,000 at the yearling sales and was the first Tulloch Lodge runner for Stewart’s Resolute Racing when second in the Magic Millions The Debut (1000m) at the Gold Coast last month.

“It was the first year we were able to put something together with them at the sales. John Stewart partnered with Coolmore on this filly, and a few other partners as well,” Bott said

“She’s a really nice type for him and she fits into his model well in terms of what he’s trying to achieve internationally in racing.

“Some black type would obviously be very important to fit into that model.”

Having coped well with the return trip to Queensland, Lady Moscato returns to Sydney for Saturday’s Lonhro Plate (1000m) as the top seed of the yard’s three runners.

Bott was thrilled with her debut effort when she drifted back from an awkward draw and closed late and expected her to derive benefit from that experience.

“We always intended to have her up there then wanted to see her in some of the (Golden) Slipper lead ups and this race gives us the right timing,” Bott said.

“After this we can go into one of the fillies’ races and hopefully give ourselves a Slipper chance.”

Lady Moscato will be joined in Saturday’s race by stablemates Caloocan Beauty, who was fourth to Satin Summer at her only start, and debutante Agrarian Girl, who defeated subsequent Canonbury Stakes winner Hidrix at her most recent trial.
