Turkey Tom, known simply as “Tom” on the farm—holds a special place in our hearts as Resolute’s very first rescue. Saved on Thanksgiving Day in 2023, he became the inaugural resident of our aftercare program and has been a beloved fixture ever since. Now 20 years old, Tom is also the eldest horse on the farm.
Before falling through the cracks, Tom lived two very different lives: first as a Saddlebred show horse, and later as an Amish cart horse, where he spent more than a decade working tirelessly. When he was eventually discarded and sent to a kill pen, Resolute stepped in to rewrite his future.
Today, Tom enjoys a peaceful, comfortable retirement in his forever home. He spends his days being thoroughly spoiled, munching on cookies, and doting on his best friend, Cinnamon whom is one of our more recent rescues whom he has lovingly taken under his wing. Tom’s story embodies everything Racing to Rescue stands for: second chances, safe landings, and the simple joy of a life well-loved.
